Market Landscape

There is a wide variety of authentication technologies on the market today, from simple to highly complex, from low cost to very expensive. Some of the more well known include:

  • Antibody pairs/DNA
  • Holograms
  • Invisible and security inks or phosphors
  • Magnetic resonance signatures
  • Microparticle taggants
  • Microprinting
  • RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)

While several of these technologies are commonplace in today's marketplace they may still fail to meet one or more of the criteria described in the Four Principles tests and therefore deliver less than desired results. And while numerous companies have prescribed to these type technologies, many are finding somewhat limited success dependant upon the technology chosen.

  • Technologies such as holograms, invisible inks, and microprinting are highly susceptible to compromise. The means of replicating these types of technologies are readily available in the market and are as easy for the counterfeiter to implement as they are for the legitimate manufacturer.
  • While it has been quite effective for inventory tracking and management purposes, RFID technology has proven to be both expensive and ineffective as an authentication solution. In addition, serious concerns have arisen due to the ease of hacking into the transmission from these devices, thus compromising their security.
  • Most technologies have been designed for a single application or market and are not easily convertible to other applications or markets.
  • Many of these technologies are expensive to implement and require retooling or changes in your manufacturing process.

Stealth Mark product lines meet all four pillars for an effective security solution:

  • The solution is rock-solid secure.
  • It's easy to implement into existing processes.
  • It can be instantly read and validated, anywhere or anytime. No sending off to laboratories.
  • And its total cost of ownership provides high-level ROI.
